As a passion driven person, one of the things you will continuously hear throughout your journey is, ‘Why are you doing the extra work? You’re not paid to do it.’ The more often you hear it, the more you’ll feel like you should stop doing it. The moment you stop doing the extra work, you’ll suffer withdrawal syndromes, because you actually enjoy doing it. While working a full time job at a media company, I went through my fair share of thinking I was always overdoing things, not because it bothered me, but because everyone around me continuously reminded me that I was going above and beyond and would be compensated accordingly. I did it anyway. It is in doing that extra work, that I harnessed many of the skillsets I use today.

This Thing Called Purpose is a combination of a practical guide to all the questions one may have navigating thing called life, and at the same time your daily dose of inspiration. It's definitely something that can be re-read again and again. After reading it all and absorbing the lessons in its entirety, you can flick through the pages and jump to a section that's relevant to a challenge you're going through, such as time management or super practical lessons on how to deal with business partnerships. It's no nonsense, simple, direct, and unapologetic in its tone.
I guess it's hard to separate the person from the book because that's the beauty of This Thing Called Purpose:' It reiterates and solidifies Adaora across all mediums, and the various creative expressions she has. Here's someone who's achieved traction in sharing her journey and her teachings, and will continue to do so because she's built a solid foundation of experiences, life lessons, AND most importantly is self-aware enough to learn from them. It doesn't hurt that she manages to articulate them in a way that pretty much anyone can connect with, providing they're interested in going inward, committed to start, and not afraid of what they might discover.
I read somewhere: "The path isn't a straight line; it's a spiral. You continually come back to things you thought you understood and see deeper truths." I know for sure I will keep turning back to This Thing Called Purpose myself for a sense of peace and wisdom
