Between 2004 and 2008, I was an insomniac. As a college student, I worked two jobs, and I had a lot going on between studying, leading organizations on campus, 2 full time jobs, extra curricular activities, and running a side business/hustle. I was busy and super productive. In the middle of this busy life, I developed chronic insomnia - I would be up all night, and still head out the next day to get all my work done. After a while, this life became unsustainable for me. I found myself running low on mental, physical, and emotional energy, and it was ruining my health. Each time I would share my challenge with someone, they would give me advice on things that may help, and my response would be, “I don’t think it will work for me. I’m just not able to sleep.”
