In 2020, personal branding has become an important part of positioning for anything whether it’s to showcase your talents, to search for a professional opportunity, to raise awareness for a cause, get people together to make a difference. In this class, I share some of the personal branding mistakes that you may be making, and how to fix them.

[1:25] Do not tie your brand too close to what you do; tie it to who you are at the core of your being.

[4:48] Do not try to be on all media platforms when you initially begin so you do not spread yourself too thin.

[6:17] Do not try to attend every event.
[6:50] Showing up at every event is not equivalent to relevance.
[7:13] Attend events that are valuable or exciting to you and resonate with your personal brand.
[7:28] Do not respond to messages immediately when you are triggered.
[8:49] Have standardized rates that you charge based on your value so you are not tagged unprofessional.
[10:08] Do not partner with or promote brands that are not in alignment with your values.
[11:05] Your approach to brand partnerships should always be quality vs quantity; quality should always be your priority.
[11:29] Do not take your community for granted.
[11:43] Do not forget your Day-1s that have always been supporting you.
[12:03] Once in a while, take out time to appreciate and engage with your community.
[12:59] Do not lose yourself in the building of your brand; this is about who you are, not what you do.
